FAQ
How do you charge for local moves?
Local moves are considered anything within 100 miles from pick-up to drop-off. These are billed at an hourly rate based on the number of movers. Time starts when we arrive and ends when the job is complete. Furniture pads, wardrobe boxes (returned after the move), and all moving equipment are included.

How are long-distance moves priced?
Long-distance moves are offered at a flat rate. We provide two options:
-
Dedicated truck with direct delivery (your items only, no sharing).
-
Shared truck for a more budget-friendly price.
How soon will my items be delivered on a long-distance move?
This is where J&G sets itself apart. Many moving companies legally allow themselves up to 21 business days to deliver your goods, often without making that clear upfront. With J&G, delivery is expedited — meaning the delivery time is only as long as it takes to drive directly to your destination. No hidden delays, no long holdovers, and no surprise waiting periods.

Do you provide packing materials?
Yes! We supply all packing materials (boxes, tape, shrink wrap, etc.) at cost. You only pay for what you use. A full price list of materials will be provided during the booking process so you know exactly what to expect.
Can I leave clothes in drawers and dressers?
If the dresser is being moved up or down stairs, drawers must be emptied for safety. If it’s staying on the same floor, light clothing can stay inside.
Do you offer labor-only services?
Yes — our movers can be hired by the hour to help with on-premise moves, or to load/unload PODs, containers, or rental trucks.
Do you disassemble and reassemble furniture?
Yes. Our team brings all the necessary tools and will disassemble any furniture that needs to be taken apart for safe transport, such as bed frames, sectional sofas, or large desks. We will reassemble these items at your new home. We can also assemble any new furniture still in the box — just let us know in advance.

What about disconnecting/reconnecting appliances, TVs, or lighting fixtures?
-
Appliances: We do not disconnect or reconnect large appliances, including water lines for washers/refrigerators or gas lines for dryers. Please arrange for these to be handled prior to Moving Day.
-
Wall-Mounted TVs: We can unmount your TV and disconnect the cabling. We also offer remounting at your new home for an additional cost.
-
Light Fixtures: Chandeliers and other fixtures wired directly into the home’s electrical system must be removed and re-installed by a licensed electrician.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. J&G Full Service Moving is fully licensed and insured. Checking a company’s DOT (Department of Transportation) number is very important—it shows the carrier is legally authorized to transport household goods and helps eliminate imposters. Our DOT number is 3700355, and you can verify our record on the official government website:

When it comes to insurance, every move with J&G includes basic coverage at no additional cost. This provides protection at the standard federal rate of $0.60 per pound, per item. While this option is free and automatically applied to every move, some customers prefer more protection for high-value belongings. For that reason, we also offer premium insurance plans at an additional cost, giving you the option of full replacement value coverage.
This way, you can choose the level of protection that best fits your needs and your budget, ensuring peace of mind throughout your move.

Are there any items you can’t take?
Yes. For safety and legal reasons, J&G cannot transport hazardous or prohibited items. These include:
-
Aerosols and flammable liquids
-
Paints, chemicals, or cleaning supplies
-
Batteries (from car batteries down to household batteries)
-
Ammunition or explosives
-
Compressed gases such as propane tanks
We can transport unloaded firearms, but they must be inventoried individually and by serial number. Please let us know about any firearms in advance so we can make the proper arrangements before Moving Day.

What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept Zelle, credit cards, and cash.
-
Zelle: no fees.
-
Credit card: subject to a 3.5% processing fee.
-
Cash: 3% discount.
Do you move out of state?
Yes! We’ve moved over 6,000 families nationwide. Our long-distance services cover all of the U.S.
